The original cavern building, dating from the 14th century, over the years, has served as a Venetian mansion as well as a monastery's quarters and storage house. Â It was restored in strict accordance with the architecture and geometry of the buildings of Santorini, using local materials, mainly stone, with colors and techniques inherited from the past.
This was one of the factors that the property has been officially characterized by G.N.T.O. (Greek National Tourism Organisation) as a Traditional type hotel - one of the only 28 premises of this type on the island.
The lluminous white of the cubic building, the black coble-stone terraces, the blue of the water that lies 300 meters beneath it, the gold of the sun above, create a magnificent blend of colours on the canvas of the traditional Greek village that encircles Porto Fira Suites.

The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had the best stay not only st Porto Fora, but for our entire vacation in Santorini. The staff made sure we had the exact breakfast we wanted and was delivered on time every day, they made reservations to exclusive restaurants for us the same day (and in some instances minutes before arrival), they set us up with reservations for sailing and any other activity we were interested. We stayed at three other hotels in Santorini and Mykonos during our vacation, and none came even close to our experience we had at Porto Fira. We wish we spent every night at this hotel during our trip. I will recommend this hotel to anyone interested in visiting Santorini, it is honestly a gem on the island and you will be in awe how well they treat you and make sure your vacation is the best possible.
